Sleep: I am slowly gaining my energy back from 1st trimester...I only wake up about once per night now, so that's good! :)

What I miss: Nothing really.

Cravings: Anything to do with pizza – hot pockets, bagel bites, actual pizza, etc. I DO NOT want anything sweet! Ick!

Symptoms: Heartburn/acid reflux -- nothing a tall glass of milk can't fix though! :)

Baby Milestones: This week, you can move your joints, and your sweat glands are starting to develop!

Best Moment this week: Finding out and telling our families and friends that you're a little girl! :)

12 Weeks!

Pregnancy Highlights:

How far along? 12 weeks

Baby size: about the size of a lime... crazy!
Total weight gain/loss: I'm guessing I've gained a little bit of my weight back...
Maternity clothes? I'm starting to wear some maternity jeans -- but still feel pretty comfortable in my regular shirts.

Stretch marks? Nope, not yet! :)

Sleep: Pretty good -- except for the potty breaks!
Best moment this week: I'm actually starting to show a little...I kind of just look like I'm fat with my clothes on still though!

Food cravings: Still mostly aversions but that's getting better. It's still pretty hard to figure out any type of meal planning for me.

Gender: We find out February 12! CANNOT wait!

What I miss: Eating normal meals

What I am looking forward to: My next appointment on January 7. Chris and I are excited to see our little one again. At 10 weeks we could see the baby moving on the screen, but this time we can't wait to hear their heartbeat! (Oh, and February 12 to find out the gender!)

Gender: Can’t wait to find out!
Movement: I haven’t felt any yet, but when we went to the doctor yesterday, we could see the baby jumping around and waving his/her arms at us!

Sleep: All the time! I will wake up at least once a night to pee – usually around 2 or 3 in the morning. I am able to go back to sleep easier, but find it hard to change positions because of the nausea. Also, I will have a sharp pain between my breastbone – feels like a rock (maybe gas? Or acid reflux?)

What I miss: Eating what sounds good at the time – these food aversions are killing me!

Cravings: Anything to do with pizza – hot pockets, bagel bites, actual pizza, etc.

Symptoms: Nighttime nausea. Zofran is helping, but your CiCi has also been great at looking for other remedies too. We tried this crystallized candy ginger – they were disgusting! I make your Dad eat one every time I have to! I also bought sea-bands yesterday. We’ll see if they help…

Symptoms: Off-and-on nausea, sore boobs, constipation
Baby Milestones: His/Her webbed fingers and toes are sticking out from their hands and feet, eyelids are covering their eyes, and neural pathways are beginning to form!

Best Moment this week: Having the week off from school (for Christmas break) to relax!

Our family of two is becoming a family of THREE! :)

This post may seem is very long, but I didn't want to start blogging about it until after at least our first ultrasound, but I wanted to go ahead and start documenting right away! So, I just kept up with it on Microsoft Word. This is a compilation of the first 12 weeks feelings, experiences, etc. :)

Nov. 17, 2010

I had not been feeling any symptoms. In fact, I felt more "phantom symptoms" during the months where I just knew this was it only to be let-down by my period later. I guess the only thing that was making me want to test was instinct. So I did. I tested. I have a bad habit, when my hopes are not up anyways, of just taking the test and walking away. When I came back several hours later I looked down and saw...two pink lines!!!

I immediately ran into the living room to see if Chris was able to see the same two lines I saw (one was very faint). He saw it too, but wanted me to take a digital... just to be sure! So I did and, for non-disappointment purposes, I walked away. Chris told me he wanted to be the one to look at it since every other time I've looked at them they've been negative (ha!). So I let him. A few minutes later, he walked in looking at it all squinty-eyed (what a teaser!) and said "I can't read it... what do you think?" One look and the test said "Pregnant!"

This was about 10:00 p.m. and his Hulk Hogan wrestling show was on in the background but we laid there and laughed and cried and planned. And of course took some pictures!

Nov. 18, 2010

The next day I called a new OB-GYN clinic in Macon that I had heard great reviews about, because I did not want to deliver here in Milledgeville. Yuck! I was given an appointment of December 6 @ 2:00 and told "Congratulations!" It was weird telling someone other than Chris that I was pregnant.

We haven't told our families yet, because we have some big family events coming up that would be perfect for telling everyone at once (Thanksgiving, Christmas... ha! Who am I kidding?? We can't wait until Christmas!!). It is really hard not telling my Mama and sister though...

Nov. 19, 2010

Chris is so sweet. He went to my favorite store, Monograms & More, yesterday and got me a Willow Tree figurine (a favorite collection of mine!) of a Mom & Dad holding a baby. He wanted to add it to our slowly growing collection. He also got me a keychain that says "Believe" and told me that every time I looked at it he wanted me to remember to believe in our baby and our future as a family. How sweet is he?!? I love my husband so very, very much!

Today has not been much different symptom wise... still not really nauseous. Maybe a little hungrier? Definitely become more bloated as the day goes on (or is it all the food I can't stop eating?? Ha!). I ended up unbuttoning my pants during nap time -- wow, the relief!

Tonight we are going out to dinner with our friends, Christy & Korey and then going back to their house to watch a movie -- I wish I could wear my comfy pants...

Nov. 20, 2010

It's Saturday -- and I'm looking forward to doing nothing but stay in my comfy pants all day! :)

Last night, we went to the Brick with Christy & Korey and I ordered a slice of pizza. It wasn't until afterwards that I saw their specials which included Chicken & Wild Rice soup. I asked Chris if I could get a bowl of it for lunch the next day and he agreed. Wow! That was some amazing soup. I wonder if they'd sell me a pot of it -- or better yet, the recipe??

Chris talked me into going wakling at the Rec. Center today. I really didn't want to, but decided it was the best thing for me (and our baby!) if we did. We only planned on walking one lap, but ended up walking three! It's such a peaceful and easy walk, we plan to go more often!

Tonight we went over to Kacie & Wesley's becuase they were going to go tot he movies to see Harry Potter. Cindy & Smiley were going to be going over there to watch the girls, so we picked up a pizza and headed over there, too. Macie was so much fun -- always is -- and is so creative and energetic with the games she comes up with to play. Poor Mollie, on the other hand, had not slept all day and had really over-exhausted herself. She was so tired she couldn't fall asleep. We tried everything we could to get her to fall asleep, but she just wouldn't. We ended up having to call Kacie & Wesley to come home early from their movie. Kacie was upset, but Mollie ended up being able to fall asleep as soon as she was in her Mama's arms. It makes me happy to think that this time next year, our baby will be Mollie's age now -- as they are just going to be a year apart -- and our baby will be so comforted by me just like that.

Nov. 21, 2010

Yep. Hunger is definitely a symptom. I can't seem to get full enough which has never been a problem for me!

This morning, Chris & I saw in on a children's large group worship time (3-5 year olds) to see if we'd like working with them on some Sunday Mornings. We liked it, but would like to visit a few more times to see if it is really the fit for both of us.

I came home (starving, of course!), and ate a microwaved meal... now I'm feeling nauseous. Please, oh, please don't let this be morning sickness already!

We plan to tell Cindy & Smiley this evening about being pregnant... somehow we think they've figured out we were tyring and we want it to be special for them. We've invited them over to look at our Christmas decorations and have creatively placed a pacifier on the tree. We plan to go out to eat at the Brick afterwards to celebrate! :) (I'm really looking forward to getting some Chicken & Wild Rice soup!). We're still not planning on telling my family until we get together with them after Thanksgiving... which will be Friday. As much as I want to tell them, I can't imagine telling them over the phone!

(Later that night...)

Well, we did it. We told them. And they couldn't have had a better reaction! They came over and ooh'd and aah'd at our Christmas decorations that we have up around the house -- some are old, some are new. Then, they went in to see our beautifully decorated tree (if I do say so myself!). We had the lights off, so they could "get the full effect" of the tree all at once. Chris started the bells that we have wrapped around the tree that plays Christmas carols and then turned on the lights. They both walked up to it and talked about how great it looked. And then Smiley looked up. We had placed a pacifier (the same one Kacie & Wesley gave CHris when they told him they were pregnant with Macie) on top of the tree, sort of as a tree topper. He smiled and looked at Chris like he wanted Chris to just say it. Cindy was still talking about the ribbon we had wrapped around the tree when Chris finally had to say "Don't you like the topper?" They both just went crazy giving us hugs and talking about how great it is going to be. Cindy got a little emotional wishing her Mama could know -- we just had to remind her that she knew even before Chris & I did! :)

We all then went out to eat at the Brick, and of course that's all we could talk about all evening. It was so great to finally get to tell someone that mattered. I absolutely cannot wait to tell the rest of his family on Thanksgiving and then mine the following day. This little baby is already so loved and is coming in to the best family anybody could have! :)

* Note: Cindy had a dream about a week before we found out that our whole family was having a get together and Chris & I were sitting on the floor. All of a sudden, a pink rainbow appeared just above my head and everyone knew I was pregnant. She told us this dream about a week before we found out we were pregnant. *

Nov. 22, 2010

Symptoms are still so minimal, especially at work. I don't have to pee quite as much at school as I do at home. Could be less time to drink very much -- or grimier bathrooms (yuck!)? The hunger is definitelys till there and so is the extreme wave of exhaustion right after lunchtime. Thank God for an understanding assistant who so sweetly tells me to just go lay my head down for a few minutes and that she has it under control.

I still get so tired at night around 8:30 and usually go to bed around 9:00 -- so different, since I'm used to staying up with Chris until around 11:00 watching t.v. shows. Our evenings are the most time we get to spend together of our days during the week. It stinks that i have to shorten them by going to sleep.

Chris & I tried to go walking again, but I was so exhausted from having worked a full day I couldn't walk three laps like last time... we did make it around two laps, though! :)

Nov. 23, 2010

This was the last day of work before Thanksgiving Break -- whew! There are still no major signs or symptoms other than the exhaustion and hunger. I haven't had that nauseous feeling again since that one time on Sunday. Hopefully it was just something I ate and isn't going to be morning sickness!

Yay for Thanksgiving being TOMORROW and all of the yummy FOOOOOD! And also yay for the countdown to see our little baby is: 13 days! We could not be more excited!

Nov. 24, 2010

Today was so relaxing! It was so nice to be able to sit in my comfy pants all day... well, most of the day! Cindy called me around 1:30 asking me to go with her to upgrade her cell phone and print out pictures at Wal-Mart. So, I did. We had a lot of fun -- I love when people get new phones!

When I got home, Chris was on his way home, too because he didn't feel good. He has a sore throat and nasal congestion. Poor baby! :( I told him I would fix him Chicken & Dumplings for dinner -- a favorite of ours! As I was making them though, I could tell they just weren't going to turn out right... sure enough they failed. I think I used the wrong kind of flour. Oops! We ended up having to eat meatless spaghetti. Sorry Baby G.

We left around 7:30 to go to Kacie & Wesley's to tell them. This was quite possibly the most fun time telling anyone -- ever! We drove up and their garage door was shut, so we went around to the front door. On our way past the window, we saw Macie watching t.v. so we knocked onthe door. She came running and started to get upset. Once she saw it was us though, she just started smiling and waving! We would knock on the door and she would just knock back and wave. She was such a hoot. We tried ringing the door bell, calling Wesley's cell phone, and calling the house phone and nobody would come to the door except Macie. Bless her heart, she couldn't figure out why we weren't coming in! Finally, Wesley came to the door with Mollie in tow, and was shocked to see us. We playe dit off like we were just coming back through Haddock on our way home from eating Longhorns for dinner, since we didn't want to cook the night before Thanksgiving. They fell for it. We played with the girls and watched Wesley prepare the turkey for tomorrow.

Right before we went to leave, Chris told them "Well, we just wanted to stop by and give y'all something y'all left at our house a few year ago," and showed them the same pink pacifier they had given him when they told him about being pregnant with Macie. Wesley didn't believe it -- he thought Chris was joking. But, Kacie had the best reaction of all! She started crying in disbelief and when she looked at me and I nodded yes she covered Mollie's ears and said "YOU'RE PREGNANT?!?!?!" She was so elated because she has always wanted our children to be close in age.

We worked out the plan with them for them to help us tell the rest of his family tomorrow. We can't wait! :)

Nov. 25, 2010 - Happy Thanksgiving.. & 5 weeks!

Chris woke up early this morning to buy us a brand new 55" flat screen t.v.! It was our last big purchase (other than baby stuff) that we needed/wanted to get for our house. We have also just recently bought a new guest bed to go in the nursery (with all the fixin's), and two la-z-boy recliners for our living room. We can't wait to get them all in our house and have our house look and feel upgraded! :)

Today marks 5 weeks pregnant for us! That means we've been through 5 full weeks and are working on our 6th! That just makes me happy because the further along I get, it makes me feel that this whole thing is all the more real. I just really cannot wait until our appointment in... 11 days!

We were reading about the baby this morning, and read that starting this week, the baby's heart is forming into chambers and will actually begin pumping blood! Yay for Baby G! :)

I'm anxiously awaiting Thanksgiving lunch at his MaMa & Pop's house for two reasons. 1. I'M STARVING!!! Baby G seems to be always hungry! And 2. The rest of his family gets to find out! I'm so excited for people knowing!

* UPDATE: We went to Thanksgiving and the plan went off without a hitch. Right before the blessing, Kacie & Wesley said they had an announcement, "Next year, we're going to have another mouth to feed!" MaMa was the most excited and said "Are you sure?!" and then Kacie said "... but it's not us!" Then, everyone turned around and we were there smiling! :) We got lots of big hugs and congrats from everyone.

Thanksgiving was without a doubt, the best meal Baby G has eaten so far in his/her little life! MaMa sure knows how to cook a good meal! Right around lunch, like usual lately, I got extremely tired. I'm sure all the good eating didn't help either! I could hardly hold my eyes open. So, we went home for a bit. I took a good hour's nap, and then Chris woke me up.

I really had planned on telling my family tomorrow around the dinner table when we go around and say what we're thankful for. I just don't think I can wait though, so Chris & I went out to Wal-Mart and got some stuff to make shirts. We just got some iron-on letters that spell out "Dad To Be" and "Mommy To Be" on them. They are too cute! I'm thinking that this way, we'll be able to see each person's reactions as they see the shirts. If we're all around the dinner table, then either everyone won't get to hug, or we'll all have to get up and it will just be too busy. I think this way is perfect.

We went back over to MaMa & Pop's after that to finish our Thanksgiving meals. Once again -- it was good! We left and came home. I worked on our shirts and Chris worked on taking apart the daybed that is in the nursery (I like officially calling it that now!). It is now completely cleared out and ready for baby -- except for Chris's trophies. We'll have to find a spot for them later.

It is now just after 9:30 and we still have to finish this load of laundry, pack, and get ready for our big day tomorrow telling my family! Then, everyone will know! :)

Nov. 26, 2010

I had made shirts last night that said "Mommy To Be" and "Dad To Be" to show my side of the family. They were just made of cheap iron-on letters, so they didn't look great, but they got the job done. We wore them to Newnan and walked in with our jackets on. We set all of our stuff down in our room, took our jackets off and walked back out to the living room where Mom, Dad, Sara, Christy, Mason, and Nathan were. The first to notice was Christy. She said "Shut up. Nu-uh!" Then, Mama and Sara noticed and both ran to us just hugging us as tight as they could. Mama even cried a little bit! Sara said she was a little jealous Mom never cried when she announced seh was pregnant -- Mom says it's because this one makes her feel old! Ha!) Then, Dad figured it out and told us congratulations. He had no idea we were even trying so it definitely took him by surprise!

Meme & Preacher Pa came over later that afternoon and had similar reactions. We kept waiting for Meme to notice, and she never did. Preacher Pa noticed though as he went to hug me he stood back away from me and said "What does your shirt say?" with a smile on his face. Then, Meme figured it out and they both congratulated us as well.

*Note: Sara is 4 weeks further along in her pregnancy with her 2nd child than I am with Baby G.

Nov. 27, 2010

The reactions from my family were just perfect and exactly as I had imagined them to be. Today, Mama, Chris, Christy, Nathan, and I all went out to Target to do some shopping. Mama bought me my first pregnancy item -- a BeBand. It's a spandex type of material that you wear over your unbuttoned blue jeans. It helps mask that you have your pants undone, while giving you some extra breathing room -- which is needed now in the afternoons! I love having it (thanks, Mom!)

Nov. 28, 2010

Chris & I wore our shirts again to Papa's Thanksgiving dinner at his house so that we could tell all of Daddy's family. We just wore them and let people notice as they did. Each reaction was happy and congratulatory. Some reactions were more dramatic than others but each one was excited! I think the best part about this pregnancy is that Sara is only 4 weeks further along in her pregnancy than I am. One might think that would make me jealous and sad that I don't get my attention, but I amg lad that she's in it with me and that we can be experiencing the same things. I've never done this before, so some of the things I'm feelings I may not know are normal or not... but knowing she feels them too make it better. I couldn't imagine going through it with anyone better!

Nov. 29, 2010

Today was my frist day back to work after the holiday. I shouldn't have gotten so used to those after-lunch naps! I came home today and took a little over an hour's nap. Chris told his three best friends (Wes, Evie, & Jonathan) last night about you, Baby G -- they are so excited for you and us! :)

Dec. 5, 2010

It's been almost a week since I've last posted an update. Since Chris got to tell a few of his friends, I decided it was okay to tell a few of mine. They're really excited for us! My symptoms are definitely starting to take place and change a little bit. I'm not as hungry all the time like I was, but when I do get hungry -- I AM HUNGRY! I definitely have gotten very familiar with the inside walls of my bathroom, because I have to pee so frequently. A little bit nauseous & severe indigestion. No morning sickness though, yet! Yay!

Our doctor's appointment is tomorrow afternoon. How am I supposed to wait all day? We are getting so excited to meet our baby! :) We love you, little baby!

Dec. 12, 2010

Baby G,

Your daddy & I got to see you on the "big screen" this past week. You're a star! Well, actually, this week you're a blueberry... but you're a star in our eyes! :) We were so excited for our appointment and were on pins and needles waiting to see if you were by yourself or if you had company! Haha! Thank goodness, you were only you! You've given me lots of morning, daytime, and nighttime nausea this past week. It all started out as indigestion, and quickly turned to nausea and near vomiting. I haven't thrown-up yet, but I'm not going to say I won't. My doctor put me on Zofran -- an anti-nausea pill that is helping some, but not making it go away. Your daddy has been so sweet to me. He pretty much fixes his own dinner every night, because I can't stand the smell of most things, feeds Delilah, cleans, and lays in bed with me when you send me to bed early every night until I fall asleep. I'm pretty sure yo'uve got the most awesome dad in the world, by the way! :) I came home to Newnan this weekend to visit Memaw & Big Daddy. I went to bed around my normal time, but for some reason have woken up at 1:30 and can't go back tosleep... it's 4:05 a.m. now. I'll try again in a little bit. Other symptoms I've started having are sore boobs, stretching feelings inside my belly, and my back is starting to be sore. My sore back could be because I can't lay down completely flat at night because of the nausea, so I'm having to be propped up on pillows. Baby G, we love you so very much and can't wait until we get to see you in your next rehearsal, practicing for your big debut! :)

Dec. 16, 2010

Today is going to be a long day. Today I woke up at 1:45 a.m. with a horrible cought and inability to breathe through my nose while lying down. Today I amsitting awake in my baby's nursery in their future "big" bed. Today is my students' Christmas program that I will obviously be exhausted for. But, today... I am thankful. I am thankful for my husband. He is so caring that as I sit up in bed coughing up a lung, he is peacfully rubbing my back. He so loves me that he does not think twice about going back out to town to get me something else I may need or want. He is so devoted that he lies in bed with me at night until I fall asleep. He is so amazing that he warms my car for me in the mornings, fixes dinner for wto, put up with my mood swings, and cares for and asks about our baby, too. He is the absolute dream husband! I love him to my hearts deepest reaches. Today I am thankful that our baby will have the best daddy in the whole world!

Dec. 29, 2010

Today was a scary day but a great day -- all in one! I have been having some cramping for the last couple days. Yesterday, I was having pretty bad period-type feeling cramps all day and just felt pretty blah. I reasearched online and saw that cramping was normal as long as there wasn't any bleeding and it wasn't making me doubled-over in pain. I checked all day, and there wasn't bleeding. But, last night I woke up in the middle of the night in extreme pain. I still wasn't having any bleeding, but it concerned me enough to call the doctor this morning. They asked me to come in so they could check me out. I was so nercous. They took some urine samples and checked my blood pressure, then asked me to come back so the doctor could see me. He brought in an ultrasound machine and turned it right on. They immediately found you! You had grown so much -- it made me cry! You were just jumping and waving. We could see your little heart beating and your daddy and I could not have been more proud of how strong you were! We are so thankful for such a healthy baby -- no matter how much grief you give your Mama in the evenings! :)

Feb. 2, 2011

It has been too long since I last updated! Since I last wrote, we found out that your Aunt Sara is having a little girl and they are naming her Sara Alice and calling her "Sallie." We are all so excited! Your Aunt Kiki, Memaw, Meme, & I all went with her to find out the "big revewal!" It was so exciting, that your daddy & I decided we just can't wait to find out what YOU are... so we scheduled our big ultrasound for February 12, @ 1:00! That's only a week and a half away from today, but it might as well be an eternity from your mama's heart! I've also hit the 2nd trimester since my last update -- I am finally feeling SO much better! My nausea is 95% gone!! I have had to take maybe 2 Zofran in the past 2 weeks! Yay for us, Baby G! The acid reflux/heartburn is still there, but can be quickly fixed by a tall glass of milk. I drink so much milk that your Daddy now buys 2 gallons for us at the grocery store instead of just one like usual.

Also, we ordered and received your baby crib that we ordered online from JC Penney's. Your Daddy & I picked it out together, and ordered it when I was only 12 weeks pregnant with you, but they were having such a good deal (half off + free shipping to the store!), we couldn't turn it down! It came in just 4 days later to the store in town, and your Daddy went and picked it up. We worked together to put it together and have it waiting for you in your room.

We went in for another routine appointment today, and got to hear your heartbeat loud and strong! Last time we went (January 7, 2011), we were able to hear just snippets of your heartbeat because you were bouncing from one end of my stomach to the other. I remember being so astonished that we could hear you moving all over, but I couldn't feel any of that movement! Today, you were snug as a bug just under my belly button and had a heartrate in the 150's! We're so proud of you! We love you so, so much and absolutely cannot wait to meet you Lucy or Alex! :)
